We went to Crystal Beach this weekend to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday. She's a Valentine's baby!
I took the opportunity to snap some pictures of some of her amazing beach collections. She's been collecting interesting shells & sea glass all her life and she has amassed an impressive collection.
This is Patricia, my mom-in-law with Pierce on the beach!
See the tall one on the right, lower corner? That's some sort of old medicine bottle cap!
I love the top of a bottle, perfectly polished by sand over the years into a unique piece of sea glass.
Her vast shell collection display changes frequently, depending on what kinds of shells she is finding on the beach...
"Granna", as the kids call her, and Pierce combed the beach for more treasures...
Happy Birthday Patricia ("Granna")! We had so much fun beachcombing with you this weekend!

Gorgeous!!! :)
O wow! That is so pretty. I never have enough patience to find pretty shells.
quite interesting post. I would love to follow you on twitter.
The shots of the two of them on the beach are so poignant. I love the subtley of the whites and grays, your mom in law and your son bending toward each other. They're beautiful stills with so much of a story.
Thanks for the suggestion on my blog to paint the front door a soft gray!!! I never would have gone there. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE that idea. Wait til we get to the Master Bedroom...you'll see why! I've been bringing that color into my life more and more!

What a pretty collection! I love sea glass, but DO NOT need another collection! :-)
Hi Kendall,
I love shells and I have them all over my house. The ones in the first photo that are kinda gray or blue looking are so pretty.
Your beach photos are fabulous and your little guy is so cute.

Oh drooling over her collection! I am a seashell/sea glass collector myself and I love all the blues and greens. I've yet to find an intact bottle stopper though- that's a definite special piece!
Great finds! I love the sea glass. So pretty!
Sea glass is so pretty. I don't have many pieces of it but wish I did. I do have lots of shells and I like the different containers they are in to accent the colors! Really beautiful!
I am so so jealous of all that sea glass! LOTTO I say!

I never have anything good to share for your linking parties and it makes me so sad. But I'm loving all of your posts! You are the trash picking guru.
You found some gorgeous shells! And the photos themselves are totally frame worthy.
My favorite! I love anything having to do with the beach! I adore the shells! Happy Birthday Granna!
Enjoy!
XOXO

I know your mother-in-law was thrilled to spend the time with family on the beach, sharing her love of shelling. I fondly remember shelling with my grandmother, my mom shelling with my daughter and myself shelling with my granddaughter. The love of the sea is passed on through the generations and are memories to be treasured forever.
Her collection is beautiful!
Not only beautiful..., but beautifully arranged too!
Your pictures really capture the beauty of your mother in law's wonderful collections! I collect seashells and sea glass too, so she is woman after my own heart! I'm glad she had such a nice birthday surrounded by her family.
Kat :)
Loved Granna's collection! What a wonderful way to spend a weekend!
Just love the photos. I collect seashells and am lucky to live a few minutes from the beach. I always have a baggie with me to take home more finds.

Such a beautiful collection! Have a sweet day!
Such beautiful things. I've spent many hours on the beach and I have shells and driftwood, but I've never found a piece of seaglass...ever!

Hi! I'm new to your blog and this post caught my attention. My family and I had a cabin on Crystal Beach but IKE took it. {We're still sad.} The shell collection is great! I love all the different kinds of shells and the sea glass is just gorgeous!
I'm also from Texas, the Houston area, and wanted to stop by and say hello. I'm very glad to meet you!
Beautiful shells...it's a growing collection.
