More coastal decorating at Finesse Your Nest!

I gave you a sneak peek Friday of my new coastal & white color scheme for my living room.  I completed a lot more of the transformation this weekend!

I challenged myself to buy as little as possible, so with a trip to the thrift store, shopping in my garage and around the house, and a few cans of white spray paint, I'm happy to say that I'm under $50 and I think it's coming together nicely!

Starring Drew Barrymore (we were watching the Golden Globes when I took these pics!)

Ignore the electronics eyesores.... They are a total "work-around" unfortunately!

The square mirrors were a thrift store find.  $4 for the whole set!  They were dark brown originally.

Most of the accessories I had already (score!)

Those little jars & the artichoke statue were GOLD!

I had some shell necklaces, so I tied one around the lamp!

My $7.99 Thrift Store Lamp, was brown and ugly!  The coral was a piece I had.  Red originally and I spray painted with gray primer!

I love shells...

More shell necklaces draped over the tall mirror in my foyer.

All my bookshelf treasures were things I had or thrift store finds.  I made the lighted wall hanging at Christmas, but I love it so much I think I'll leave it up all year.  I traded the Tiffany blue ribbon for gray satin.

Ginger Jar was a $3 thrift store find.  The branches were mine, and I spray painted them with my new friend, gray primer spray paint!

I have a "thing" for Buddhas.  This one was dark brown and from the Dollar Spot at Target!

Driftwood from Crystal Beach with some little pewter bowls my mom gave me.   I put white votive candles in each one.

White beach glass on a sterling silver tray.

I used white plates I had from a broken set.  The 2 candlesticks on each end need a little something, but haven't figured out what yet.

A lantern I picked up at Target end of summer for $10.  The "W" was $1.99 at HL and I spray painted with gray primer.

I did a little updating in the dining room as well...

I've had these shell canvases forever, and I never get tired of them!

The centerpieces I made last week with the jute balls!

Shell & coral art pieces need to come down just a smidge I think.  I have another Buddha in here and the lamp was originally in the living room, but I think it works just fine in here (it was a steal at Homegoods for $20 - shade was yellow and orange so I painted with fabric paint. Easy!)

Not new, but these are the dining room curtains I made...

And another existing piece, but I think this chandy is my most favorite thing!

Still haven't figured out pillows for the sofa yet or the window treatments, but working on it.

Does anyone know where to get woven shades (bamboo, etc) in custom cuts CHEAP?  I checked Smith & Noble, but they are outrageous!  Any ideas would be appreciated!

You have so many wonderful coastal theme items! Me? Not so many, but have an all coastal blog, ha!

Hi again Kendall! Your house looks great...I have a thing for Buddhas too! I also especially love the dining room chandelier.

You can e-mail me at kscotto8@yahoo.com...but I have to say I don't check it as often as I should! I go to the University of Delaware and I'm a natural resource management major, so I guess that's where the environmentalist bit of me comes in!

Stay in touch!

Love your coastal space!! We are trying for a coastal-inspired living room as well, and it's wonderful seeing what you've put together!

We saw woven shades MAJORLY discounted (talking $5 - when they were $75, which kills me because we paid $25 just two weeks ago!!) at Home Depot, but I don't think they offered custom cutting, if you need an odd size. Good luck!

Oh wow! Everything looks so great, even Drew Barrymore. I know about electronics being a work around, I try to talk my Dh into hiding them and for the most part I win, but the the mass of wires and cords BEHIND the entertainment center kills me. I am very into chandeliers right now so I love that!

Lovely decor and even more lovely because you did it on such a small budget. Now that is creativity in practice!

I LOVE your wall color in the living room. Everything is just trés cute!! I am really falling in love with white accessories. I think perhaps it's the nice, fresh, clean feeling you get after all the color of Christmas. :)

Thanks for the visit. I actually felt GREAT this year after the bday party...not worn out or nervous about how much we spent. I think this is the way to go for us. :)

Thanks for the visit! :)

You have done some amazing things with what little money you spent. Isn't it fun to play the "how low can I go" game? Everything is so creative and it's coming together very well. Good for you!

This room is wonderful and I am so impressed that it was an under fifty dollar makeover!

Those curtains are so great and the little touches like coral make this room.

Oh, and just an idea for what to put on the white candle sticks...what about those ratty jute balls you made?

woven shades? As good at this as you are, could you make some out of garden fencing???? What color are your dining room walls? They are beautiful!

Barrie - The walls in my dining room are Ralph Lauren Tribal Pottery in Eggshell finish. It's the color of bittersweet chocolate and I've never grown tired of it. Thanks for checking out my blog!

I love your makeover. I recently did my family room in a coastal theme. You were much more thrifty than I was. I spent too much on paint. I love the color you chose.
