I love balls!

Okay, that got your attention right? Or am I the only one who TOTALLY has my mind in the gutter?!

On a whim I did a little "craft" tonight while watching some random stunt motorcycle show with the boys (thus the reason I started the little craft!)

I had all these leftover styrofoam balls from holiday crafting.

And some jute....and some spray adhesive...

And some wood glue (not that this project has ANYTHING to do with wood, but it's what I had on hand!)

So, I put it all together and made these!

Little ratty jute balls!  I love them!

This was a total "trial and error" project.  I started out spraying all the balls with spray adhesive, to give them a little tack.  Then, I slathered wood glue on the first one and it looked something like this...

Can you say BIG MESS?!  So I thought maybe if I wrap these suckers tight and put a little glue at the beginning and a little at the end that will work.  And it did!

Gheez, my hands look scary!

And start wrapping...

And wrap some more...

Yes, that is spray paint on my thumbnail (see post below).

Little dab of glue on the end of the jute.  I used a cheese knife (yep, it can moonlight as a craft tool too!) to tuck the glued piece down into the ball.  I put a little glue on top of that just to make sure it held.

Cute balls!  (Okay, I'll quit with the gutter humor!)

This one turned out like a football.  I have no idea why!

I started off trying to be neat, but ended up wrapping in a haphazard frenzy.  I think they actually turned out better that way.

I used them in the bottom of my 2 1/2 ft tall candle vases.  I mixed the arrangement with shells, beach glass, piece of random potpourri that I had saved for who knows what reason, and some other decorative balls I had.

I think these will probably go on my formal dining room table as a centerpiece.
