Our fireplace has always been a thorn in my side.
It's an ode to electronics, namely a Texas-sized plasma TV...
...and the sub woofer thingie that MUST sit on the mantle in the center for optimal sound quality (all this according to Mr. FYN)
*SIGH*
I've tried decorating around it, but anything I do always seems to compete with the "technology". So what's a girl to do?
Decorate under it! We can't have a fire anyway, because it might melt his baby (Mr. FYN and his plasma always reminds me of Lord of the Rings....Gollum....."the precious"! )
So, I just filled the firebox with some of my favorite things. It's like my own little "cabinet of curiousities"!
In the process, I uncluttered the lamp table. Here's what it looked like BEFORE...
Lots of "stuff"!
And here it is AFTER...
Simple....it can "breathe"....
And I made these little cuties...
The one in the center holds part of my sea glass collection. I don't know what I'm going to do with them yet. For now, they're hanging out on one side of the mantle.
Happy Friday everyone and have a wonderful weekend. Don't forget to link up to "Shop The House Sunday" tomorrow!

Love the new fireplace look!!! :) Great job!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great solution to your plasma woes. ;) I imagine that if we had a fireplace and a large plasma, T would do the exact same thing. And it would probably be his "precious" too. :s
ReplyDeleteLove the seaglass in the mason jar!
So pretty! Love the sea glass. I am going to get some of that when I go to FL this year.
ReplyDeleteThat is just too funnY! Love all the decor placement!
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that you were still able to decorate the fireplace even with your husbands "precious" took over the mantle. You clever lady
ReplyDeleteI hold a special place in my heart for those who share the pains of having a giant, black-framed piece of "art" above the fireplace. I guess misery loves company in this case... ;) You did a fabulous job making it work!
ReplyDeleteI love what you've done with your fireplace. It looks so beachy and summery (is that a word?)--I'm going to use it for inspiration for some of my own decorating. How funny that you have a fireplace you can't use!
ReplyDeleteI like the filled jars. Hang on to that sea glass--it is hard to find these days--we have mostly "sea plastic" here.
What a great idea. It looks so Summery and fresh. I guess I'm lucky hubby hasn't pushed having the TV over the fireplace.
ReplyDeleteI am saving this for when my hubby finally joins the ranks of the plasma world... thanks!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Your seaglass collection is so awesome!
